Expanding Educational Spaces with Sensitivity and Style
Blackstone Architects were commissioned to design a thoughtful extension that would expand the available floor space and provide two new classrooms. The proposal placed these classrooms beside the existing church, subtly sunken into the ground and topped with green roofs—carefully designed to minimise visual impact from the street and preserve the beauty of the church’s historic elevations.
An airy atrium now connects the new classrooms to the original building, creating a seamless link between old and new. A new entrance at street level enhances accessibility and welcomes students and staff into the updated space.
Our team managed the full design process, including both Planning and Building Control drawings. We also introduced the client to a trusted structural engineer, ensuring a smooth and coordinated delivery of the project.
