Blackstone Architects was commissioned to reimagine the interior of a once‑dilapidated church, transforming it into a vibrant, multi-use community landmark:
Ground Floor: Redesigned to accommodate a bright and welcoming nursery, a bustling community café, and a seamless garden access that encourages indoor‑outdoor flow.
First Floor: Opened up into a light-filled community hall, underpinned by a sleek new mezzanine level housing additional classrooms, perfectly tailored to flexible programming.
Architectural Highlights: The original roof trusses were meticulously restored and highlighted with a series of thoughtfully placed rooflights. This intervention allows daylight to flood the symmetrical, open‑plan hall—showcasing the timber structures and reinforcing a sense of unity and transparency throughout the space.
Overall, the design proudly celebrates the building’s heritage while giving it renewed purpose as a fully adaptable, community‑driven environment.
